UDT-2 Deployment on Kwajalein and Eniwetok
Editors note: These documents provide evidence of the actual Order of Battle for the first UDT action of WWII. UDT Team Two's deployment began in late December 1943 and extended through the invasion in January 1944 of the Marshall Islands: Kwajalein, Eniwetok and Rai/Ramur (code name IVAN/TORS). The islands were taken after Tarawa in the Gilberts. Since the UDT Museum Association does not publish rosters, we have not posted the document "Crew Assignments for Demolition Operations" for six boats "hauled out before daylight" in order to maintain confidentiality.
Other documents on this site include: 1.) Check Off List of equipment for each officer and man; 2.) Loading List of explosives and other gear; 3.) Orders (12Jan); 4.) Orders (31Jan); 5.) Handwritten Training Note and 6.) Training Notice.
UDT instruction during WWII took place at Ft. Pierce and Maui. These documents describe the deployment, and indicate the possibility of further UDT training closer to the actual battlefields and the treacherous coral reefs of the western Pacific islands.
